With so many couples choosing Santa Barbara as their destination wedding hotspot, one also has to keep in mind the type of Santa Barbara wedding experience they want to savor. One of the most charming and memorable ways to enjoy a Santa Barbara wedding is by enjoying the downtown historic landmark venues, many of which are within walking distance of each other, as well as charming inns and hotels for overnight accommodations. Allowing guests to be able to walk everywhere during their stay is gifting them with the experience of really getting to know Santa Barbara and enjoy her up close and personal.
Caprice and Michael chose to exchange vows for their 2019 wedding in the lush, romantic gardens of Santa Barbara Courthouse, and host their reception just about a block away at the historic Santa Barbara landmark Casa De La Guerra, an adobe residence occupied by José de la Guerra, the fifth comandante of the Presidio. His home was considered the “social, political, and cultural center” of Santa Barbara during the Mexican period of its history. The property stayed in the family for generations until 1943, when it was included in the El Paseo complex. What’s extra special about this location is that Mr. de la Guerra was considered the patriarch of the local Santa Barbara community. Having a wedding at this location provides guests with a wonderful taste of our Mexican/Spanish heritage as well as provides them with a step back in history.
We took full advantage of all the colors and fresh fare of our area to tie their wedding menu (see below) in to the surroundings and seasoned Santa Barbara traditional vibe.
We wish Caprice and Michael the best in their new life together – and as always, every event is a team effort and we are so grateful to our wonderful event partners in producing this special day.
