Santa Barbara Courthouse Mural Room Ceremony + A Charming & Trendy Loft Reception

You’ve got to love a good Father/Daughter Dance.  And when Cerita and her dad broke out in a fun, choreographed routine, it added a fun moment they – and their  guests  – will always remember (see photo below).  Cerita and Jonathan chose to host their wedding in the gorgeous Mural Room of the Santa Barbara County Courthouse and then escape to the tower for some romantic photos overlooking Santa Barbara;  while they were busy enjoying the panoramic views, we were busy at The Narrative Loft preparing for their arrival via Santa Barbara Trolley for a delicious wedding dinner celebration.  Clients love The Narrative Loft, which resembles all the charm and uniqueness of an intimate loft downtown New York City, but with the convenience and ease of arrival that only a Santa Barbara venue can offer.  With cowboy boots on the bridesmaids, a ranch-style dinner menu in an original setting, this wedding celebration was a relaxed and comfortable (but fun) gathering.

Vintage Dairy Farm (Lincourt Winery) Vineyard Wedding with Churros and Chocolate

Lincourt Vineyards, formerly a dairy farm and turn-of -the-century Sears craftsman home, holds one of the most charming and alluring wedding locations in Santa Barbara’s wine country, the Santa Ynez Valley.   Unpretentious, easy-to-access,  and surrounded by sweeping views of the Santa Ynez mountain range and quiet country roads, this outdoor wedding location is a shining star for evening celebrations under the blazing starry gems in the sky.

While we love all our deliciously fresh menus our clients choose (yes, perhaps we are a little biased- but our reviews and love notes from clients will concur), we especially loved seeing the delight on guests’ faces when we surprised them with passed freshly-made warm churros and chocolate dipping sauce at this particular wedding. Special touches including lit up initials for decor and the newlywed’s new monogram projected on the barn made this Lincourt Winery wedding pop!

Cara & Preston’s Sparkling Ever After at Santa Barbara Woman’s Club (Rockwood)

We loved the light, summery airy pinks used in the decor and feel of Cara and Preston’s wedding at Santa Barbara Woman’s Club (Rockwood).  The gentle look complemented the natural setting of the wood , trees and leaves at Rockwood.  While Rockwood is so versatile, and there are many event layout options, we love it when clients mix up table shape and size – the square tables mixed with traditional rounds they chose for guest dining lent a unique and fresh look to the overall impression.  The menu these newlyweds chose included several of our most popular and traditional dishes, especially appropriate for a Santa Barbara fresh culinary experience for guests.

Moonlight, Orchids & Glow | Michelle and Sam’s Wedding Celebration

Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers ….and people….So it must be all around us.”         -The Secret Garden

And so it was that an orchid farm greenhouse was magically transformed for the wedding celebration of Michelle and Sam and all their family and friends while the moon cast her benediction on the nuptials and night. From vibrant colors (including orchids, of course), leaves, trees, flowers (and even the beach) to special, personal touches and elegant decor, everything about this Santa Barbara wedding was perfection.

Moonlit Ojai Wedding With Dinner, Drinking & Dancing Under the Stars

The night walked down the sky with the moon in her hand.” – Frederick Knowles  | Ojai offers a mountain oasis blending the best of high desert vibe and a slowed-down, country feel.  Add a glowing moon illuminating everything below her, walking hand-in-hand with the sky, and you have Emily and Cael’s magic wedding night at Black Walnut Creek.   There are many private estates and charming locations from which to choose for memorable wedding celebrations in Ojai, and we loved this one at Black Walnut Creek!  The best part about working outdoor locations in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties is that the backdrops offered can be absolutely epic.  On this particular evening, Mother Nature put on a spectacular show with the stars coming out and dancing for the newlyweds and the moon baptized these two as they danced the night away with family and friends.  It was a night not soon to be forgotten.

Vines, Mariachis and Handfasting | Sally and Bradley’s Firestone Wedding

We absolutely loved the multi-cultural elements of this celebration in Santa Barbara’s wine country!  Sally and Bradley chose to exchange vows on the terrace of the world-renowned Firestone Winery, overlooking the vinescape below and towering surrounding Santa Ynez Mountains.  The lively colors they chose for the wedding were especially prominent at the wedding ceremony, where the couple were framed as they performed a NeoPagan handfasting ceremony.  This tradition, some say,  dates back to the ancient Celts and is where the marriage union is blessed as the bride and groom’s hands are tied together with a sacred ribbon, “tying the knot”.

After the ceremony, the guests adjourned to the Courtyard where mariachis

Dania & Jonathan’s Persian Wedding: When Ancient Traditions Transcend Time

Ancient traditions that are based in joy, love and celebration never go out of style.  A Persian wedding is one of the most decadent, rich-in-history, steeped-in-tradition celebrations on earth.  When a culture has been around for thousands of years, there’s no doubt they’ve perfected many things, one of which is the savoir-faire of how to celebrate a marriage in big style.

We absolutely loved being the full service catering event partner for Dania and Jonathan’s Persian wedding.  Each elegant touch and multi-cultural detail had a meaning steeped in thousands of years of tradition and beauty.  While many Persian timeless traditions are historic, they translate beautifully to modern wedding culture.  The Sofreh, or “wedding” is broken down to two stages:

What They’re Eating at the 2017 Oscars Governor’s Ball

Sample of Oscars Dessert Buffet as shown by Fine Dining Lovers

While we love all the glitz and glam of Hollywood and the red carpet, we would not be true to our profession- the culinary arts – if we did not ask the question, “But what will they be eating?”  Dresses are fabulous, but let’s be honest:  food reigns.

According to Fine Dining Lovers, the following menu will be enjoyed by all attending the Governor’s Ball and catered by none else than Wolfgang Puck himself, with Kamel Guechida, Monica Ng and Jason Lemmonier taking care of the pastry items.

The Evolution of the Wedding Dessert

Photo: Logan Cole

Since ancient Roman times, weddings were always celebrated with some sort of special sweet. According to history, Ancient Roman wedding ceremonies were finalized by breaking a cake of wheat or barley (mustaceum) over the bride’s head as a symbol of good fortune. The newlyweds then ate a few crumbs in a custom known as confarreatio, or,eating together”. Afterwards, the wedding guests gathered up the crumbs as tokens of good luck.

Sweets continued to be a part of wedding feasts for centuries, and in fact, were often

A Santa Barbara Wedding Experience for Kelsey and Patrick

From nuptials being exchanged in the Queen of the Missions, to lovely photos around some of the Indian ruins around the Mission, a fun trolley ride from ceremony to reception at the popular Santa Barbara Historical Museum (enjoying  and all the lovely sites of Santa Barbara along the way), Kelsey and Patrick enjoyed the some of the best Santa Barbara has to offer for their wedding.

We absolutely loved all the special touches for this wedding, including the flowergirl walking down the aisle with a sign saying, “Here Comes The Love of Your Life” (see photo below), to
