Christyn & Tahshim’s Unitarian Society Wedding & Reception

In the heart of Santa Barbara towards the upper east side are several of Santa Barbara’s most renowned and picturesque parks.  And nestled right next to these parks is the beautiful Unitarian Society church, welcoming all and being a central part of our community for many years.  Their location is prime for out-of-town wedding guests who can enjoy accommodations very close (some within walking distance).  It also offers a gorgeous backdrop for a church wedding and convenient reception right in the adjacent courtyard- all boasting Spanish style architecture consistent with Santa Barbara.  Wedding Planner Percy Sales does many weddings at the Unitarian Society, and we will let the beautiful photos speak for themselves as to the summer magic for Christyn and Tahshim’s Santa Barbara wedding day.

“Cake For Later; Cake As A Way of Life” | Jan & Taylor’s Sweet Ojai Nuptials

“Cake for later;  cake as a way of life, ” says Laini Taylor.  And we couldn’t agree more.

Jan and Taylor chose one of our favorite locations in the picturesque mountains of Ojai at the charming  Lavender Inn.  Their intimate celebration had lots of special personal touches, but perhaps the most significantly sweet detail (sorry, we couldn’t resist the pun) was that this wedding was all about cake.  And  with cake being the root cause of love affairs and revolutions  over the centuries, who are we to argue with the power of cake as a defining hallmark of two people in love?

Wedding Spotlight: Camarillo Ranch House

We love all our Santa Barbara wedding locations.  But we also love it when we get to work just slightly south of Santa Barbara and when the venue is at a vintage country charmer like Camarillo Ranch House, it’s extra special.  Throw in a darling couple, great guests and a few of the area’s top event supply partners and you’ve got a seamless, photo-worthy event.  But besides all that, the most important thing was that we had a happy bride and groom.

Wine Country Wedding Glow at Firestone Crossroads Barn

Firestone Crossroads Estate offers the best of all rustically-romantic elements for the couple wanting a grand landscape view in Santa Barbara’s wine country.  The pole barn with two open sides allows vistas of vineyards and hills, and the wooden walls and windows on the other two walls allow protection and light while providing a cozy feel.  Crossroads is built for events with endless options for photos: from the Oak Tree ceremony area to sprawling lawn, close-by vines, and beautiful skies that seem to go on forever.  But perhaps the most beautiful part of any outdoor wedding – particularly in wine country – is “Magic Hour”.  That is when the sunset hits a particular glow as it sets for the day and everything is bathed in golden light (just check out the pics below of Sarah and Bryan as they stroll during Magic Hour).    We loved this menu, with fresh, delicious ingredients all complementing each other.

Gamma Phi Beta Summer Celebration

Celebrating 143 years, Gamma Phi Beta’s mission is  to “inspire the highest form of womanhood” through countless community events empowering girls and women.  So, being a woman-owned business, this celebration was especially meaningful to us!  This particular event was the UCSB chapter’s end-of-the-year celebration to acknowledge all the member’s community service.  And what better way to say “job well done” than with inspired food and beverage in a gorgeous Santa Barbara location!  Below are some menu and photo highlights from the event:

Private Estate Ojai Oasis Wedding for Erika & Kyler

Just a 20 minute drive up into the mountains of Ventura is the world-renowned picturesque village of Ojai.  Known for “pink moment” sunsets (referring to the mountains which change color at sunset and surround the town in a glow), ranches, orchards and more, Ojai boasts many of our favorite wedding locations.  Erika and Kyler were fortunate enough to be able to celebrate their nuptials at a private estate, affording beautiful views and a tranquil oasis from the world with family and friends.  And here’s a little fun fact about Ojai that the couple tied into their wedding as a unique touch:  Ojai is famous for “pixie tangerines”, which account for less than 1% of California’s tangerines.  They are seedless deliciousness and are easy to peel.  We love that Erika and Kyler offered pixie tangerines as escort cards for guests, which also doubled as guest favors!

Fresh Air, Sumptuous Cuisine and Vows At Figueroa Mountain Farm House

What goes best with mountain air, fresh breezes, panoramic vistas and no sign of modern conveniences for miles?  The company of those you love most, who are dearest to you — and bringing those people together with an incredibly delicious, fresh menu designed to complement the environment.  Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse is nestled back in – you guessed it- Figueroa Mountain and requires guests to arrive and depart by shuttle.  One of the most unique features of this incredible wine country mountain venue is that a few guests can actually stay the night there and have the whole mountain lodge experience right in Santa Barbara’s wine country.

One of the things we loved most about this menu is that in addition to a succulent tri-tip marinated and grilled to perfection (nothing says “country” more than a good cut of delicious beef) , they offered their guests one of Southern California’s most popular culinary treats as a “station”: check out the delicious ceviche station in our menu highlights below!

This wedding offered country goodness and a warm, intimate setting for friends and family to gather and celebrate this newlywed’s first steps in their new life together.

Matrimony at Mattei’s: Historic Stagecoach Stop Wedding in Wine Country

Few may know, but Santa Barbara’s wine country – the Santa Ynez Valley – is linked to Santa Barbara via the Los Padres Forest and San Rafael/Santa Ynez Mountain range.  Over a hundred years ago, a stagecoach line transported guests down California, through Santa Ynez Valley and as we locals call it, “over the hill” (referring to the mountain range) to Santa Barbara.  One of the stops was Mattei’s Tavern (previously The Central Hotel, Los Olivos Hotel and Stagecoach Inn), which provided a bar, dining and overnight accommodations for guests.  While it has undergone many ownership changes, in the last 20 years, it enjoyed a renaissance as a prime destination intimate historic wedding location in wine country for those wanting something different from a vineyard wedding.  While it took a brief break from weddings during some ownership-changes, it appears to be back as a venue dedicated exclusively to private events… and we just love the wedding we did there!

Catering Connection Supports Community Event Partners With “Bevvies, Bites, & Botanics”

Catering Connection is proud to be intimately involved in the events community that makes Santa Barbara the destination event hot spot that it is for so many years.  Without this professional partnership we have with our fellow event pros, the weddings and events we produce would just not be the same.  Santa Barbara truly has a wealth of the best event talent, and we are so lucky when we get to collaborate and work with them on showcase events like ILEA‘s monthly networking mixer and venue showcase.   Because the event was held at  The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, all cuisine was asked to feature local fresh herbs, which only made our job more fun.  Check out the fresh menu below and the event partners who came together to make this ILEA community event one to remember with “Bevvies, Bites, & Botanics” (the designated event hashtag: #BevviesBitesBotanics ) :
